Director of Music’s Welcome
Welcome to our 2012 Sherborne Summer School of Music brochure. You’ll find it packed with a huge variety of music making opportunities, there really is something for everyone.
All our old friends are here; the conducting courses with their consistently full houses, our very accomplished orchestras, ensembles and choirs and our masterclasses with their exciting, stimulating teaching and inspired performances. 2012 sees a new member of staff, the distinguished violinist and conductor John Georgiadis who will direct the String Orchestra. John’s reputation as a string trainer is legendary and we look forward to giving him a real Sherborne welcome. Equally exciting, Jeremy Jackman will return to direct the renamed Choral Masterpieces course in the third week. Nigel hasn’t left us, he’s moved to Cappella in the first week while James Davey has taken over the large Choral Course in the second week. When we include Sue Hollingworth (Lighter Side Choir), Jo McNally (Choral Conductors) and Wendy Sergeant (Voices in Harmony) we have just about the strongest choral faculty available to any summer school in the world! Come and join them, you will not be disappointed.
Whilst moving to Sherborne has renewed our vision and vigour, what clearly is apparent to us is that the heart of a summer school is its spirit. It is you the students who make it what it is. We look forward to welcoming you in 2012, whether you are old friends or new friends enrolling for the first time. Sherborne Summer School is certainly an experience and 2012 will be no exception. |
